──────┤ What Job Summary? 1.2e 5/9/1993
This is the fully functional, Unregistered Edition of What Job
Summary? Other than a pause at start-up, it is identical to the
Registered Edition (i.e., it is not "crippled").
WJS provides any easy way to track the status of the jobs on which
your company is bidding or working. WJS was originally written for
a paving company in Central New York.
The only practical limit of WJS is your disk space. You need never
close-out a year (i.e., remove its data from the disk) if the
computer's speed and disk storage are adequate.
On a 360k floppy disk there is about 100k of free space. My paving
company client uses a bit less than 64k for one year of information,
so you can figure that a 360k disk will hold one to three years of
information, depending on how many jobs you do per year. A hard
disk is best, however, since it is so much faster and safer.
Integrated back-up/restore/format floppies functions make WJS a
complete environment in which even a novice user can manage data
without the need for addition software or knowledge of DOS commands.
A brief on-line manual is accessible within the programme (via the
Help/Index menu).
Mouse support is installed on menus only. I don't know anyone who
is using WJS with a mouse -- if you are, tell me and it will give me
the encouragement I need to enhance the mouse support.
Documentation on-disk is provided in TWO FORMATS: ASCII and
WordPerfect 5.1. If the user has WordPerfect (or a conversion
utility) the documentation can be properly formatted for their
printer, taking advantage of special fonts and often saving paper
over 10cpi printing.
──────┤ Registration and Pricing Information
The registered commercial release is available as follows:
* New registrations include the latest version of WJS with
documentation on disk for your printer (see ORDER.FRM or docs) for
$65.
* Typeset and 3-ring-bound manuals are sold separately for $8 to
save trees and reduce the cost to users who do not need printed
documentation or prefer to print their own.
* Once registered, WJS can be updated by downloading from a BBS or
otherwise acquiring a newer version. Updates through the mail are
$7. Manuals are priced separately.
* Bulletin Board Sysops please read SYSOP.DOC for special deals
